Free Internet Access in Paris

Dear Reader,

Lucky for Jean-Paul Sartre he was born before the Internet. Otherwise, he might have spent more time in Paris cafes checking his e-mail rather than working out existentialism.

Le café Marguerite, in the shadow of the Hotel de Ville at 2 Quai De Gesvres, is already a popular place for its chocolat chaud (hot chocolate). And I hear the lemon meringue pie is top notch.

But they’ve recently added something else to their menu: Wireless Internet access. And it’s free. You just need a laptop equipped for wireless access–flip it on and you’re connected. It’s the Internet cafe redefined, in a city that already does cafes better than any other in the world.

But Le cafe Marguerite isn’t the only free Wifi option. There are literally dozens where you can sit down and log in to your heart’s content, and all while you sip an espresso or munch on lunch.

To find the many free WiFi points in Paris, you can check here: http://www.hotcafe.fr/liste_cafes.htm.
