Why I Moved to Nicaragua (and Why I’m Staying)
Date: 11/13/2009
I’m not a grouch by nature. I just find it difficult to listen to the way folks back home talk these days. Everyone is angry…angry with bankers…angry with politicians…angry with government. They feel let down. They have been. But all this anger isn’t good for them. Even overhearing it saps my energy. Life is too short….
Cheap Energy for Your Beach House in Nicaragua
Date: 10/30/2009
Rancho Santana in southwest Nicaragua is my home. I left the rat race in California and moved here four years ago with my wife and our two young daughters. We can walk from our house to the beach. What a front yard! I still pinch myself as I look out at the ocean while enjoying my morning coffee.
The Opera I Slept Through…and Other Things to Do in Nicaragua
Date: 10/14/2009
My family and I recently enjoyed two spectacular performances at the Ruben Dario National Theatre in Managua. We often go to this theatre to see ballet, opera, orchestra, and national heritage events. My children have even performed there on several occasions.

Along Central America’s Pacific coast you’ll find rocky outcrops, world-class surf, and some of the most jaw-dropping views in the world. If it’s natural beauty you are after, Nicaragua is the jewel of this stretch of coast. More awesome than northern Costa Rica directly to the south…or southern California, a 3.5-hour flight to the north.

I’m a surfer–I’ve spent most of the past 30 years surfing the best beaks California had to offer, so you’ll understand I know what I’m talking about when I say that along Nicaragua’s South Pacific coast, the surf is world class.

Golfers, you need to pay attention to this postcard. This is the best golf resort real estate opportunity I have ever seen. If you don’t care for golf but like undervalued real estate–you should pay attention to this, too.
I’m talking golf fronting lots in an established community for only $39,000.
How Much Would You Pay for a Home on This Coast?
Date: 05/15/2009
Dear International Living Reader,
Along Central America’s Pacific coast you’ll find rocky outcrops, pounding surf, and some of the most jaw-dropping views on earth. In terms of raw beauty, I believe this stretch of coast trumps the coast of Southern California, a comparison often made.
Say you could still buy a half-acre lot with views of this ocean–how much would you expect to pay for a view like that? You could easily get it for $600,000…or as low as $48,000. The huge difference in price is thanks to an imaginary man-made line in the sand…
