“It’s getting a little out of control.” That was the word from the events staff this week.
They’ve been peppered with questions from hundreds of readers about our Ultimate Event coming up this March in Quito, Ecuador. And though they’ve been returning calls and answering each e-mail individually, they can barely keep pace with all the interest.
So I thought the smarter thing would be to answer the questions we’ve gotten most often here. That way you’ll have the details right up front.
Of course, if you have a question not answered below, by all means send a note to events@internationalliving.com, and we’ll get right back to you.
Warmly,
Dan Prescher
Publisher, International Living
P.S. Before you read on, I wanted to make a quick point about our live events that usually gets lost in all the info about who’s speaking and what you’ll learn. I guarantee: When you come, you’ll be amazed by the warm, friendly, intimate atmosphere. We run a very professional ship…don’t get me wrong. You’ll hear from world-class experts. And they’ll share with you secrets, techniques, and recommendations that can save you thousands of dollars and months of time. But what I hear again and again from attendees is how amazed they are at how approachable everybody is.
It’s true. We don’t invite the kind of folks who would strut up to the podium and then retreat to some green room. Instead, you’ll find our experts will welcome your questions. And you’ll have plenty of time to rub elbows with them and talk about your own situation. Plus, you’ll enjoy the like-minded company you find among your fellow attendees, too. At the Ultimate Event you’re guaranteed not just an incredibly informative few days…but an enjoyable escape, as well.
Frequently Asked Questions
Ultimate Event IV
March 2-6, 2009 * Quito, Ecuador
Question #1: What countries will you cover?
We’ll cover all of the places we feel offer you the best lifestyle, investment, retirement, or second home opportunities on the planet. Places anybody who likes a good value would appreciate.
In the mix this year? Panama, Mexico, Brazil, Italy, France, Costa Rica, Uruguay, Argentina, Nicaragua, and Belize. And, of course, Ecuador, too. That’s where we’re hosting this program. And it’s one of the most beautiful and cost-effective places on earth to live.
For each destination, we’ll give you the pluses–and the minuses. And we’ll introduce you not just to the nation, generally, but to the specific enclaves–the provinces or villages or towns or cities we recommend most. Our experts know these places inside and out. And that means you’ll get up-to-date suggestions and great get-there-first recommendations, too.
Question #2: Should I come to the Ultimate Event or to one of your country-specific Live & Invest Events?
If you already know where you want to go, then our Live & Invest in Panama or Live & Invest in Mexico may suit you just fine. I say “may.” They’re designed to help you hone your choice of specific location within a country. And then they give you the time-trimming, money-saving, money-making recommendations you need to accelerate your transition there. So you can be “living your dream” much faster than you ever imagined.
But at our Ultimate Event, we do that–and more. So even if you know where you want to go (or think you do), you’ll definitely appreciate the broad reach of the speakers at our Ultimate Event.
We’ll talk about the best places in the world to go for investment, retirement, lifestyle, and so on. We’ll help you match the idea you have in your mind of what you’re looking for with a real, live place on a map.
But that’s really just the beginning. This March in Ecuador, you’ll also meet and hear from financial experts with strategies for preserving and growing your wealth, even in these challenging times…techniques for finding the perfect job and doing it from anywhere in the world…how to effectively communicate and handle business from abroad…and much, much more.
You can see the full list of speakers and topics, here.
Question #3: What does the conference fee include?
The registration fee includes four full days of conference sessions and workshops (from 9.00 a.m. to 6.00 p.m. daily), two cocktail receptions, coffee breaks and refreshments, and a Welcome Kit full of details about the countries we cover, information about how to get in touch with our best contacts in each, and lots more.
Your airfare, meals, and overnight accommodation are not included in the registration fee.
However, we’ve arranged a discounted rate for you at the luxurious Swissôtel Quito, where we’re hosting this event. You’ll pay just $129 per night (single or double occupancy, plus taxes). And that includes your ground transfer from and to the airport in Quito, a complimentary welcome drink, unlimited Internet access, and full use of the hotel pool, gym, Jacuzzi, and so on.
Plus, you can take advantage of that special rate for three days before or three days after the conference. You’ll find more details about the hotel and how to reserve your discounted place here on our Ultimate Event Website.
Question #4: Does my spouse get a discount?
Absolutely. Bring along your spouse or a guest for just about 40% off the regular conference fee. Today that comes to less than $800. And if you’re a subscriber to International Living magazine or a VIP member of IL, then both you and your guest save even more.
Question #5: Are you offering any tours following the conference?
Yes! Join us to see for yourself the best opportunities Ecuador has to offer. This country is the most affordable destination in the Americas today. It’s a place where you can have your own Pacific coast escape for a mere $46,000…or live well on as little as $600 a month in a colonial town with a view of the Andes.
It would be a pity for you to get to Quito and not explore a bit farther afield. Through our associates on the ground, we have tours planned to the Southern beaches…Cotacachi and Quito Valleys…Salinas…Cuenca and Vilcabamba.
You’ll not only have a chance to relax, but to see for yourself Pacific coast retreats where you can find property that would easily sell for several million dollars in places like Malibu, Newport Beach, or San Diego…for less than $100,000. And you can explore colonial highland towns where the weather is spring-like year-round and you can live well for as little as $8,000 a year.
For more information about the tours, go here.
But let us know soon if you’d like to reserve your place. Space is very limited, and I’d hate for you to miss out.
Question #6: Will I get time to talk one-on-one to the speakers and presenters about my own situation?
As I mentioned up top, our experts are approachable and very willing to chat with you. In fact, we’ve designed this program to allow for lots of networking time. Typically the mornings are filled with the more general presentations. But in the afternoons, our experts host smaller workshops where they answer lots of questions.
Plus we have a Networking and Exhibit Hall, which is always open and a great place for you to mingle both with the speakers and other attendees. We’ve scheduled longer coffee breaks than you’d typically have, since we know how it is once you get to talking about all the possibilities out there. And you’re invited to two cocktail parties as well–yet another chance to rub elbows with our presenters.
If you’re a VIP member of International Living (that is, in our Publisher’s Roundtable, Lifetime Society, World Club, or Real Estate Trend Alert), then we have a special VIP room set aside especially for you, where you can grab a snack, do a little networking, meet with speakers, and so on.
