Dear Real Estate Trend Alert Member,
I’m just about to board a flight home to Ireland. My fellow passengers are boarding, so I’ll make this quick.
I’ve just got off the phone with a friend who is connecting me with some firesale opportunities in Ireland. I’ll get to see some interesting deals over the next couple of weeks.
Deals like a country house on 50 acres with fishing rights, accessible to international airports and with 14 holiday homes…asking 1 million euro.
Or…if you are a golfer you may have heard of the Old Head of Kinsale. This place makes Pebble Beach’s setting look ordinary. Have a look.
The next point over was slated for an Ernie Els resort. The deal imploded and now the bank is begging for offers on the land. Best of all, the bank involved is well advanced in its complete withdrawal from the Irish market. They just want out. This is an amazing piece of land…and only 25 minutes from an international airport and 10 minutes from picturesque Kinsale…Ireland’s gourmet capital.
But, that’s not why I’m writing with such urgency. My friend and contact just caught wind of an amazing firesale deal in Spain (as you may have gathered, he is in this business). A 144-bedroom, five-star hotel (Lady Diana and the Rolling Stones have stayed there) overlooking Mijas golf course (actually on the fairway), 20 minutes from Marbella airport will be sold off over the coming weeks.
It’s fully vacant, giving the new owner flexibility, and could be picked up for 6 million euro. That’s €41,000 per room. The hotel was valued in July 2008 at 39 million euro.
My first thought: What an opportunity to buy it and sell timeshares. You can buy this high-end hotel in an amazing location for less than 790 euro per room week. This will be swirling around my head as I cross the Atlantic.
Meantime…and as I will be out of contact for the next few days, I wanted to introduce you to David (dwalker@westboro.ie ). If you are interested in this firesale deal in Spain, David can help you out with whatever information you need.
Stay tuned for the news from the Emerald Isle.
Wishing you good real estate investing,
Ronan McMahon
