Campeche is a UNESCO World Heritage city on the Gulf of Mexico. It’s turning part of its historic center into a pedestrians-only area like similar areas in Oaxaca, San Cristobal, and other Mexican colonial cities that are popular with tourists and expats.
Campeche wants to entice tourists to stay longer and enjoy the city—and pedestrian areas are one way to promote that.
