Video Postcard: Beautiful Views in One of the Cheapest Places to Live in Belize

IL editors Suzan Haskins and Dan Prescher recently visited Belize, traveling from the northern border with Mexico right down to the tip of the Placencia peninsula. While they were there, they spent time in Cayo, the largest district in Belize and a center of agriculture and tourism. In this video, you’ll see the beautiful views from up in the hills in the Cayo district. Dan and Suzan are about to go and look at a property there and the video shows the view you’d have if you lived there.

One of the largest Mennonite settlements in Belize is in Cayo at Spanish Lookout, and the farmland in the area could pass for the fertile hills of Ohio or Iowa.

This area is tranquil and less expensive to live in than other parts of Belize and there are lots of outdoor activities to enjoy here, like canoeing, hiking, caving and rafting.

Editor’s note: The Cayo District is one of the places Dan and Suzan will cover in the new Blueprint for a New Life in Belize. They were on an exploratory trip of Belize recently to  shoot video, scout real estate and collect information for this new report. This is a virtual boots-on-the-ground walk-through of the best opportunities that Belize offers right now. Find out more here.
