Ecuador: Where Everything Comes With a Sea View and Small Price Tag

Salinas, Ecuador

Mike grew up in Huntington Beach in the 1950s. He’s spent a lot of time since then looking for somewhere that reminded him of those beaches in Southern California—including Guatemala, Mexico, and Costa Rica.

But it wasn’t until he discovered one particular stretch of Pacific coast in Ecuador that he felt like he’d “come home to 50s California…”

Best of all, this is a place where you can still find a beach house for $50,000…gas costs $1.45 a gallon (that’s 38 cents a liter)…delicious, fresh shrimp is $2 a pound…and a luxurious lifestyle (including full-time staff to take care of cooking and cleaning) will cost a couple $2,000 a month all-in.

Mike was recently Dan Prescher’s guest on IL Radio, where he went into detail on the beach area where he now lives, including costs of living, property prices, and the types of North Americans who are moving there.

You can catch up with a recording of the 20-minute show right here.

P.S. Ecuador isn’t just about beaches. From craft villages in the mountains where the air is crisp and cool, to the colonial splendor of the capital Quito, this is a country that has the perfect lifestyle to suit you, whatever your tastes. We’re going to Ecuador this November—find out here how you can join us.
