In this video, IL Costa Rica correspondent, Jason Holland shows footage of his beautiful rental home in Grecia, Costa Rica. Just like any desirable retirement destination, you can find luxury in Costa Rica when it comes to where you live.
But there is plenty of opportunity for regular folks to find their own slice of heaven when they retire to Costa Rica.
Hilltop homes with views of the Central Valley – for as little as $145,000 you can buy a comfortable three-bedroom home here. Or try renting across the street for just $400 or $500 a month. Tico-style homes can be had for $90,000 or less. It’s the same story on the Pacific and Caribbean coasts in Costa Rica.
Jason showcases his home, located about five minutes outside the town of Grecia in the Central Valley, as well as a two-bedroom down the street that enjoys the same privacy and quiet, natural surroundings – at half the price.
Grecia, population 16,000, is an hour north of San Jose, and just 20 minutes from the country’s main international airport. With a weekly farmer’s market for low-priced fruits and vegetables, many department stores, access to good medical and dental services, and several great quality – and cheap – restaurants (including a top-notch steakhouse), Grecia is a very comfortable town.
