If you’ve dreamed of traveling the world and getting paid to do so, try this…
One of my favorite things is to lead creativity tours in Paris. Together, this group of avid travelers explore all kinds of off-the-beaten-path things that inspire us to be better writers and artists and to enjoy life more, once back home.
Each day has a theme—design, sound, taste, play, empathy. I allow my imagination to run riot and my group love it. Paris is one of my favorite places in the world and I have a ball.
Plus, at the end of the week, I have my costs covered and I make a handsome profit.
My friend Julie Hedlund takes aspiring writers to Florence, Italy for her tour, A Writer’s Renaissance. It includes writing classes, downtime for personal writing, a trip to the Tuscan countryside and even a cookery class.
Susan Aris loves to walk at a slow place, so she leads walking tours in Ecuador, Colombia, and Peru…taking her groups to ancient sites and bustling markets…sharing with them the culture and experience she loves so much herself.
Laura Davis takes tours to Bali, Indonesia for a yoga and writing theme. As well as daily writing and yoga classes, her excursions include rice field hikes, treks in rain forests, snorkeling expeditions among tropical coral gardens, walks through coffee and clove plantations, and lush waterfalls.
Other people have done wine tours, beer tours, fabric tours…
So where do you want to go and what do you want to do there?
Remember, you don’t have to be the expert. There are always local guides you can hire to do the talking. It’s a fun, profitable way to fund your travels.
