Dear International Living Reader,
Mexico may be top dog overall in our 2008 Retirement Index, but there is a place close by with even better weather.
I think it’s the best weather on Earth.
International Living magazine Editor Laura Sheridan agrees. In fact, she tells me that this country is the only one that earned a 100 score for weather...perfect climate year-round.
Laura has the whole story on this paradise on Earth below.

Dear International Living Reader,
There are places in the world where the simple, practical, cordial life still exists. In some of these places, the sound of modern civilization crashing and burning is just a distant rumble.
Recently, Suzan and I were standing on a rooftop in a little mountain town between two extinct volcanoes.

Dear International Living Reader,
It’s the most obvious no-brainer my wife and I have seen in years.
Just $46,000 for a brand-new condo with a world-class mountain view.
In a clean, quiet little town where it really is always spring, and $2 still gets you a four-course lunch.
Suzan tells all about it below.

Dear International Living Reader,
It could be Aspen or Breckenridge...but it has never snowed here.
And you can buy a brand-new condo with the mountains right outside your window for less than $50,000.
Suzan Haskins tells you all about it below.

Dear International Living Reader,
My wife, Suzan, is into something new—eating only locally grown food.
We just visited one of the few places on earth where you can really do this without cheating. It’s a highland Garden of Eden where the growing season never ends, cabbages get as big as beach balls, and a dollar will buy more bananas than you can carry.
Suzan serves up the story below.

Dear International Living Reader,
“How much did you say they’re asking for this place?”
We stood at the front window of a four-bedroom brick house sitting on an entire acre of land. We were looking directly out at the Pacific Ocean…nothing between us and the surf but a line of little blue fishing boats pulled up on the beach on the other side of the coastal road.
“They’re asking $45,000,” said our friend. “They’d probably take $40,000.”

Dear International Living Reader,
"We're renting for $150 a month."
Suzan and I had just met a new friend over breakfast at Meson de las Flores, a classic little beauty of a colonial hotel in the heart of Cotacachi, Ecuador. Our new friend said that he and his wife had recently moved here from North Carolina, and our conversation quickly turned to the rental situation in this tidy little mountain town.
"You have to look around a bit and get to know the locals," he said, "but we found a great place right here in the middle of town. Three bedrooms, with a huge yard for the dog."
