Leigh Fergus

Leigh Fergus

Leigh Fergus, our Paris-based European editor (originally from Guildford, U.K.), has lived abroad almost continuously since 1984, working as a translator, language trainer, and editor, and has no regrets about leaving the U.K.

Although first drawn to France for the way of life, she has also lived in China—in between eating her way systematically round the country, she worked as editor in the state and private sectors in Nanjing for three years (for the provincial TV station and the FT's global archive), while producing an entertainment guide for English speakers. She then moved to Beijing and temped at the state news agency, Xinhua, and the national TV station before running a monthly magazine for expats.

Returning to Europe in 2004, she headed a newspaper in the Dordogne for the growing English-speaking community in France, and then resettled in her spiritual home, Paris. Leigh has been with IL since 2006 and continues to travel whenever she can.

Leigh will speak at the Live and Invest Overseas Conference.
