Hola Mexico Insiders,
This month we’re celebrating a birthday. Mexico Insider enters its sixth year—61 months of bringing you insider information on the best places to live and invest in Mexico.
We try not to toot our own horn too often, but after five years it’s satisfying to see how we—and you—have grown. Our instincts about some places have been proved correct. Five years ago, for instance, who had heard of Mérida, or the Costa Maya? Mexico Insider had—and we wrote of their advantages years before the mainstream press jumped on the bandwagon.
We still write about those places today—using our on-the-ground contacts to continue finding you great deals in markets that are now hot. In the last year we’ve returned not only to Mérida but also to Puerto Vallarta and the Costa Maya.
We also keep seeking out promising, little-known destinations that offer great value for money—and that could be the “next big thing.” Places like the hilly capital that we visit in this month’s lead story. This “Athens of Mexico” is high on amenities and low on cost—just the combination we like. And the fact that you’ve probably never heard of it? We like that, too—because it means we’re getting you the scoop, and the deals, before everyone else has heard of them.
Check out this month’s issue as well for tips on how to solve the “don’t drink the water” problem. Yes, you can drink tap water in your Mexico home—if you have the right equipment.
So enjoy this month’s birthday issue—and thanks for being with us to celebrate.
Best regards,
Glynna Prentice
