Dear Panama Insider,

Of all the new real estate projects in Panama today, perhaps the most novel is an “eco-project” unlike any other in the country. It’s based on an idea that’s not new in North America and Europe, but unheard of in Panama. Called Utopia Village Farm Community, this project is a working farm that provides owners with fresh organic produce and even the possible opportunity to make money.

How it works: The Utopia Village administration has about 400 acres of raw cattle pasture that it’s dividing and selling as five-acre mini-farms. The plan is that these small acreages will grow organic fruit and vegetables on behalf of the landowners. If you buy one of these mini-farms, you will be entitled to some of the produce, of course. If you like, you can get in there and work the land…but if you’d rather not, the Utopia staff will take care of everything for you.

Surplus produce will be sold on the marketplace, and you will also have the opportunity to turn a profit...although a portion of the profits will be used to fund improvements to the farm community.

Unlike other farm communities around the world, the Utopia Farm Community also offers you the option to build a home on your farm. You’ll be able to spend time hiking, bird watching, kayaking, horseback riding, mountain biking, and more. The property borders a wide freshwater river ideal for swimming and is near a farming village.

I’ll be writing more about the Utopia community in a future issue of Panama Insider. According to the group, it has the work force, the knowledge, and the expertise to make this project a success…but of course, you should always conduct your own due diligence to be sure the risk level meets your criteria.

By the way, this isn’t the only “green” project worth investing in. In future issues of Panama Insider, we’ll tell you more about the forestry investor visa and how you can obtain it easily, without spending hundreds of thousands of dollars…despite the new presidential decree that requires forestry investors to buy nearly 50 acres of approved land…

Thanks for reading, Panas.

Best regards,
