It never snows here. The infrastructure is top-notch. The people are friendly. The cost of living is low. (I take a taxi to work…across town…for $1, get a haircut for $2, buy a beer in a bar for $1. I can take my girlfriend out for a great dinner with a bottle of wine at one of the city's finest restaurants and spend just $30.)
I have a dream life here in Panama. I know it. And there other people living the lives of their dreams in other great destinations. In fact, International Living has correspondents and Country Consultants like me around the world. We all love the countries we live in…and we like to share the reasons why with readers like you.
It's our jobs to tell other people how they can do what we're doing: live the kind of lifestyles they've always dreamed about in the location they've always dreamed about.
It's not hard to make that life change. But, as they say, it does require taking "the first step." Finding out that it really is possible to make a new life overseas. Lots of people have done it.
That's the key. Learning from other people. And that's what IL is all about…bringing people who know how to do certain things together with people who want to do certain things. Our publications and manuals are designed to give you the information to get you started. That's the first step. And our tours, seminars, and conferences take the information-gathering one step further yet.
I've been to enough International Living conferences by now to know that they can be life-changing events.
That's something we at IL hear over and over. Readers tell us that our information and support are invaluable. One reader, in fact, wrote to us after a conference last year and said "You guys are the best…the very best resource for anyone looking for a new life. In fact, is there anything else like IL out there? I don't think so…you guys are the ultimate!"
The ultimate, huh?
That got us thinking. We do have the ultimate information, the ultimate real-life experts and we know all about the world's ultimate locations. Put it all together and what do you get?
The International Living Ultimate Event.
I couldn't be happier to announce that October 18-21, International Living's ultimate roster of experts will convene here in Panama for an event like none other we have ever produced. That's why we're calling it the "Ultimate Event."
You may have read something about this event before, but we now have all the details ironed out. It's impressive. Not only will all our most knowledgeable speakers be here in Panama, but we've added even more: tax specialists, real estate gurus, well-connected locals, seasoned expats, and expert entrepreneurs who can tell you how to do what they're doing…live the way most people only dream about.
I am very excited that the International Living Ultimate Event will be held in Panama - one of the most exciting places in the world right now. If you haven't been here yet, you owe it to yourself to come and take a look.
Before I tell you how to learn more about our Ultimate Event, I want to tell you one more reason not to miss this one. We're not only meeting in Panama, but we'll be staying at the brand-new Intercontinental Playa Bonita Resort and Spa. Think sparkling blue Pacific Ocean, the soft white sand beach, the palm trees… every room has a view of that. The resort also includes an amazing swimming pool, a health club, gymnasium, spa. It's the "ultimate" place to hold an "ultimate" event.
We've even lined up the "ultimate" keynote speaker.
I grew up reading Rolling Stone magazine, and I especially loved anything written by longtime Foreign Editor, P.J. O'Rourke. He'll be in Panama with us in October - and I have my favorite collection of essays ready to have signed by the journalist The Wall Street Journal calls "the funniest writer in America." He'll be the "ultimate" keynote speaker at our "Ultimate Event."
I hope you'll join all of us on the IL team in Panama in October…we'd love to share a cool drink with you on the edge of the Pacific…
Best Regards,
Brandon Clogston
