Dear Panama First Alert Reader:
The Director of Immigration for Panama has recently issued a resolution changing the requirements for the popular teak Forestry Investment Visa in Panama. There are now two ways to receive Panamanian residency and qualify for eventual Panamanian citizenship through teak forestry investment.
The Small Forestry Investor Visa: Minimum investment is $40,000.00. After initial application, the applicant gets a one-year residency card. If this card is renewed for the next three consecutive years, on the fifth year from initial application the applicant may apply for permanent residency and/or Panamanian citizenship.
The Large Forestry Investor Visa: Minimum investment is $80,000. After initial application, the applicant receives a one-year residency card. At the end of this year, the applicant may apply for permanent residency, and after five years from initial application, citizenship.
