Get to Costa Rica in Less than Three Hours with New Direct Flights
Date: 09/04/2007Getting to Costa Rica is getting easier every month. Just last month, Delta Airlines announced two new direct flights here. Starting February 2008, the flights will depart from New York's John F. Kennedy International Airport (JFK) with destination to the cities of San Jose and Liberia. Now American Airlines has announced new direct flights from Fort Lauderdale to the Juan Santamaria International Airport in San Jose.
The flights, which begin December 13, will leave Ft. Lauderdale daily at 2:30 p.m., arriving in Costa Rica at 4:20 p.m. Return flights are scheduled to depart from San Jose at 5:25 p.m. and arrive back in Fort Lauderdale at 9:15 p.m.
"We continue to see increased demand for service from Fort Lauderdale to Latin America and the Caribbean," said American Airlines Senior Vice-President Henry Joyner.
That's because tourism and flights to Costa Rica are on the rise. Last year, 1.6 million tourists visited Costa Rica and international flights rose by 37% over the previous year. Tourism officials expect at least a 5% increase in tourism arrivals this year. The first six months of 2007 have already registered an increase of more than 6%. Officials say increased direct flights from not only the U.S., but also Europe, are helping spur tourism.

P.S. Now that flying here just keeps getting easier, you have no excuse. You owe yourself a visit…and there are already plenty of flights available, so you don't have to wait for the new ones to kick in. In fact, there's a primo opportunity coming up inNovember. Act before September 19, and save.
