If you’re like many baby boomers, you’ve reached retirement age…but you’re not ready to retire or you’re afraid to.
You don’t want to or physically are not able to work a 40+ hour week any longer.
But you either can’t afford to stop working, or you are afraid if you do, you will be bored to death or go crazy without something to challenge yourself. You feel stuck between a rock and a hard place.
What is a baby boomer to do?
Freelancing—you can find the freedom you need to retire by freelancing.
Why can baby boomers find the freedom they need to retire in freelancing? Let me give you four reasons.
Reason #1: Freelancing is Portable
When you freelance, you can work anywhere you have a stable internet connection. And these days that is pretty much anywhere in the world.
Do you want to retire overseas where the cost of living is lower than your current place of residence? Not a problem—you can freelance.
Want to sit on the beach for a few hours while you work? Not a problem if you can use your phone as a hotspot for internet.
Want to travel around the world and visit other new and exciting places? Not a problem. You can travel and still work if you freelance.
Reason #2: You Will Love Your Boss—Yourself
As a freelancer, you choose who you want to work with and the types of jobs you will apply for.
You will be your own boss.
And goodness knows, you should love your boss when that boss is YOU.
Be choosey picking the clients you work with. Don’t take on demanding clients. Freelancing allows you to be picky.
Reason #3: Create Your Own Opportunities
Do you want to take a vacation with the grandkids and enjoy your time off? Not a problem. Set your freelancing profile to show you are not taking on new clients at the moment.
The joy of freelancing is that YOU decide when you work and who you work with. You create your opportunities. You don’t want to work for someone else who might not let you take a vacation when you want to take time off.
Reason #4: Savings
Are you afraid you don’t have enough money saved to cover you through your retirement years? Not a problem.
By freelancing, you can make enough money to supplement or add to your retirement funds. You get to decide how much or how little you need to earn and how many hours you work a week or a month.
Maybe you don’t need to earn any money at all. Perhaps you want to keep from getting bored. Wonderful—freelancing to the rescue. Work only when boredom strikes and you want to challenge your brain.
So, there you have it. Freelancing adds the freedom to retire for baby boomers, no matter the reason.
Take the leap. Do not fear retirement. Start your freelancing career today. You will be happy you did.
