Our Christmas in Bali

For my husband Rob and I, this is our third Christmas overseas and the first year we don’t have visitors from back home. It doesn’t mean our celebrations won’t continue, it just means adapting to a new life. Even though Indonesia is predominantly a Muslim country and the faith in Bali is mostly Hindu—there are at least 20 million people in Indonesia who are Christians....

What Do Expats Do In Bali?

Much has changed in Bali over the last 10 years. The development of hotels, swanky new restaurants and with social media at an all-time high, there’s no need to retire and live off the grid. An expat is simply someone who chooses to make a life in a place other than where they were born. Make Monday Great Again

Another weekend is over here in Bali. Funny though, Monday doesn’t hold the same stigma it once did. Actually, most of the time I don’t even know what day it is! The area surrounding the main town is made up of small farms, rice paddies and dense forests. In the foothills of the Gianyar regency, it’s long been a popular place for retiring expats, with a robust mix of ancient times and todays modern world...

Visas for Bali

Years of holidaying in Bali had convinced us this was where we wanted to live…the culture fascinated us and the welcoming community of expats and locals enticed us. Plus, the low costs meant we could give it a go long before official retirement age...

Canggu, Bali

The island of Bali has enticed many expats to retirement overseas. And, for quite some time, the towns of Sanur, Legian and Seminyak have been popular choices. But just up the coastline is Canggu and it’s quickly growing in popularity. Canggu, pronounced “changoo”, is a village located only 15 kilometres north of the more well-known party resort, Kuta...
