In the heart of Costa Rica‘s Central Valley is Grecia, a charming town of about 16,000. Like the rest of the Central Valley, Grecia has an ideal spring-like climate and enjoys quick access to the capital of Costa Rica, San José. There you can find the best medical care and shopping in the country, as well as the main international airport.
Life in Grecia is relaxed and features quiet rural areas outside a bustling city center. That slower pace of life has attracted many expats, as have the excellent mountain and valley views from homes on the hills and ridges surrounding the town. Valley-view homes with North American amenities in Grecia communities like El Cajon or San Isidro can be found for less than $150,000.
Editor’s Note: In this video, International Living Costa Rica editor Jason Holland gives a tour of Grecia’s city center and the surrounding area, which includes small villages and agricultural areas.
