  Scouting Out Bargains For 2027…

From one beige hotel room to another...

The background may have been subdued, but the conversation was not... I sat down with my colleague Ronan McMahon, founder of Real Estate Trend Alert, to chat about where he’s focused as he looks ahead to 2027.

Tune into our conversation, here.

Ronan dialed in from sunny Panama City, Panama where he’s on the ground scouting deals and renewing his residency paperwork. I’m coming to you from cloudy Waterford, Ireland, where I’m at the International Living office for the week, checking in with the staff on the heels of Jeff Opdyke’s Future of Wealth Conference, which we wrapped up in Dublin almost two weekends ago.

How to Get a European Passport in Three Months

... Getting Citizenship in as Little as 3 Months? (even if you don’t have a European parent or grandparent)

... How to Live in Europe Year-Round on an American Passport Alone (no visa or second citizenship required)

... Why 2026 May Be the Last Year for Easy European Passports for Americans

I asked Ronan to hop on this call with me because I wanted to dive into his thinking behind the places where he and his team will have their eyes in the months ahead.

Ronan penned our feature story in this month’s issue of International Living Insider focused on where he sees opportunity in 2027—it’s just out today, so make sure you give it a read. There’s lots to think about in there, like...

·      A historic townhouse in a UNESCO-listed Baroque town in Sicily for under €70,000 ($78,643).

·      A charming country home near a crystal-clear lake in southern Sweden, where you could spend your summers swimming, sailing, and enjoying long, bright evenings when the sun doesn’t set until 10 p.m., for under $60,000.

·      A beach home on a subtropical Japanese island, where you can enjoy white- sand beaches, extraordinary food, and mild winters for under $100,000.

As Ronan says, “I’ve seen plenty of places where real estate is cheap for a reason… and stays cheap. You can own a lot of house for very little money and find yourself in a place that’s disappearing. “The trick is to use excess supply to your advantage. Buy where the lifestyle is genuinely world-class. And, in the best cases, buy where something is starting to change… Where new people are arriving and life is returning to the streets, but prices haven’t caught up. Those opportunities exist today, when you know where to look…”

And on our call—we talked about those places. Tune in here now.
